Gonçalo Gil is a professional magician and one of the most highly decorated of his generation, having gained recognition at a number of leading international competitions.
In 2024, he was awarded the title of European Magic Champion, one of the most prestigious honours in the field, cementing his position on the international stage of contemporary magic.
His work has been showcased in numerous countries, with regular performances at festivals, galas and highly prestigious events, before discerning audiences across different cultural contexts. Of particular note is his appearance in Las Vegas on the television programme “Penn & Teller: Fool Us”.
Alongside this, he is the founder of the Porto School of Magic, established in 2011, and of Gee Magic, a brand dedicated to developing original effects used by professionals worldwide.
Gonçalo Gil is also the founder of the Maia International Magic Festival, which brings the world’s most renowned magicians to Portugal.
A career shaped by rigour
International competition brought recognition, but above all method, rigour and exposure to different ways of thinking about magic. That journey helped Gonçalo Gil consolidate his own approach: less focused on the effect for its own sake, and more centred on rhythm, reading the audience and creating moments that remain after the show.
